| CFAC RELEASE: Brian Rushfeldt appeared on CTV National, Global National, Mike Duffy Live, CFCN TV and on several radio stations including a US one. Some of the following is how CFAC addressed the ruling on indecency. Yet another reinterpretation of duly passed laws made by an unelected minority. The latest "interpretation" by the Supreme Court social activists WILL have its repercussions on Canada. It is serious that unelected Judges are "emboldened" to write whatever laws they feel like, impose their version of indecency upon all society. It shows total disregard for democracy and our Parliamentary system. And it certainly shows disregard for any moral standard that most reasonable, logical, civil Canadians hold. The message to Canadians, have sex orgies, do whatever you want sexually because " we" the Supreme minds say it does no "harm" to you or society. It does no harm ? Well, time will tell of how many messed up relationships cost the taxpayer millions of dollars, how many health care dollars go to disease spread in these sex shops, who will be advertising their perversions on public air waves, and how many city and municipal decency ordinances will be struck down. Community standards can no longer apply unless they fall in line with the unbelievable thinking of seven judges whom are not accountable to you or me. Supreme Court approved bawdy houses, sex shops, whore houses or bathhouses, whatever term you apply, will cause harm to society. If you are a parent trying to raise your children with some reasonable standard for sexual behavior you now are in disagreement with the Criminal code and seven of the "wisest" legal minds. One has to ask what test the Court has or will apply to the new word - harm. Indecency tied to, whether in judges minds, is harmful is rather dictatorial and dangerous. Allowing judges to make this kind of change to our Criminal Code is harmful. The blatant disregard for democracy and parliamentary government is a move toward dictatorship by judicial fiat. There is one remedy to this , Parliament passing new legislation and protecting it from bizarre court rulings by the only means possible, Charter's notwithstanding override. Two Supreme judges and lower level court judges showed some sanity and restraint. Unfortunately they hold no power to do anything about this decision. They too have been overruled by the "wiser" ones. I suppose I should be worried about writing this disagreement with the Supreme beings, the wise people from the east, as Chief Justice McLachlin has already said people should not disagree or criticize her and her 8 appointed buddies. And since they hold unchecked powers in this nation under Liberal government, then I suppose I could end up in jail. Or if we go too far left, I may just disappear. I have to ask, Mr. Martin, is this a "Canadian value" you support? If you do nothing to legislate against this ruling then we must assume you do support this kind of Canada. I would suggest that candidates in this election be asked about this issue and asked if they would introduce a law that would fix this horrible blight imposed upon all of us. CFAC |
